GM Labs introduces Solana revenue buybacks and 180-day unstaking

Key points
  • Solana-side revenue will be used for GMX buybacks.
  • A 180-day unstaking timelock for GMX and esGMX will be implemented.
  • Existing and new stakers must submit requests to unstake.
  • Pending requests can be canceled, but staking power rules apply.

GM Labs is set to implement two significant changes on October 28 to enhance the GMX fee structure and reward dedicated stakers.

All remaining revenue from the Solana-side protocol, after GT buybacks, will be allocated for buying back GMX. The GMX acquired through these buybacks will contribute to the staking rewards pool, while GT buybacks will continue as usual.

A 180-day unstaking timelock will be introduced for staked GMX and esGMX on Arbitrum and Avalanche. Stakers will need to submit an unstaking request and wait 180 days to withdraw their assets. This policy applies to both existing and new positions, requiring no personal migration. While pending unstaking requests can be canceled, the existing 80% Staking Power rule remains in effect; canceling a request will not restore staking power.
